POS app for iPad

The POS billing app for iPad

The iPad is the favourite counter screen of cafés, salons and boutiques — light, quiet and always on. MC-POS Cloud turns it into a full point of sale: billing and tax invoices, tables and kitchen tickets, purchases, stock, accounting, staff, e-invoicing and AI insights, with the same business on your phone and computer.

Quick answer

Yes — MC-POS Cloud is on the App Store for iPad and runs on iPadOS 16 or newer: every iPad from the 5th generation, iPad mini 5 and newer, iPad Air 3 and newer, and every iPad Pro.

It prints to Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi / LAN thermal printers, scans barcodes with the camera, and keeps billing with no internet. Free to start, then from $36 a year for 2 users.

How to install MC-POS on an iPad

  1. Install the app. Open the App Store and install MC-POS Cloud — one app for iPhone and iPad.
  2. Create your business. Sign up free inside the app, or on mcpos.mycodlabs.com, and add your products, taxes and outlet.
  3. Pick the printer. Settings → Printers. Choose a Bluetooth LE printer from the list, or type the IP of a Wi-Fi / LAN printer.
  4. Start billing. Scan or tap an item, take cash, card, UPI or credit, print or share the bill. The same business opens on every phone, tablet, terminal and computer you add.

MC-POS needs iOS / iPadOS 16 or newer — iPhone 8 or newer, iPhone SE (2nd generation) or newer, iPad 5th generation or newer, iPad mini 5 or newer, iPad Air 3 or newer, or any iPad Pro. It bills with no internet and syncs when the connection is back.

iPad devices that run MC-POS

The iPad layout uses the big screen: product grid on one side, the bill on the other. Every iPad below runs it.

Device What it is MC-POS on it
iPad (A16) 11-inch, 2025 The newest standard iPad — a great value counter screen
iPad (10th generation) 10.9-inch The most common counter iPad — fits most POS stands
iPad (5th to 9th generation) 9.7 / 10.2-inch Older shop iPads still bill well on iPadOS 16 or newer
iPad mini (5th generation and newer) 7.9 / 8.3-inch Waiter ordering and line-busting in one hand
iPad Air (3rd generation and newer) 10.5 to 13-inch Busy counters and big product grids
iPad Pro (all models) 9.7 to 13-inch Front desk with reports and accounts on the same screen
iPad in a POS stand or kiosk case Counter setup Swivel stand to show the customer the total

iPadOS 16 runs on iPad 5th generation and newer, iPad mini 5 and newer, iPad Air 3 and newer and all iPad Pro models. Older iPads (iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 and before) cannot install the app.

Printing bills from an iPad

MC-POS prints ESC/POS receipts, kitchen tickets and labels from the iPad two ways:

  • Bluetooth LE — portable and desk printers that support Bluetooth Low Energy (often sold as "Bluetooth 4.0", "BLE" or "works with iOS"). MC-POS finds them in Settings → Printers; you do not pair them in iPad settings.
  • Wi-Fi or LAN — network printers by IP address (port 9100). Best for a fixed counter and for the kitchen. Allow Local Network access when iPadOS asks, or the printer cannot be reached.

One honest warning: Apple does not let apps use "classic" Bluetooth printers — the kind that pair with a PIN like 0000 and work with Android. If your printer is classic-only, it will not show up on an iPad; use a Wi-Fi / LAN printer, or a BLE model, instead. A cash drawer plugged into a network receipt printer opens through it. Any bill can also be shared as a PDF or invoice link on WhatsApp or email.

What you can run on an iPad

On an iPad, MC-POS is the counter and the back office in your hand:

Billing & invoices

Barcode or touch billing, held bills, split payment, cash / card / UPI / credit, tax invoices, 80 mm and 58 mm receipts and A4 invoices, sales returns and refunds.

Orders & tables

Take-away and dine-in orders, tables and floors, KOT printing to the kitchen, split payment, service charge and tips, QR menu ordering (Restaurant plan).

Purchases & suppliers

Purchase orders, goods receipt, purchase returns, landed cost, supplier dues and payments — so your cost price and profit are real, not guessed.

Stock & inventory

Batches and expiry, variants and units, racks, multi-warehouse stock, transfers, adjustments, stock value and a full stock ledger.

Accounting built in

Every bill posts itself: ledgers, journal, trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, cash drawer, bank accounts, expenses and fiscal-year close.

Staff & HR

User roles and permissions per counter, shifts and attendance, salary, payouts, commissions and an employee self-service app (Advanced plan).

Tax & e-invoicing

GST / VAT with inclusive or exclusive prices, tax breakdown on the bill, Saudi ZATCA and UAE VAT e-invoicing with QR (Advanced plan).

AI that works for you

Ask your data a question in plain English, AI sales insights and stock alerts, AI-written WhatsApp and campaign messages, AI reports you can export (add-on).

The same business also opens on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, macOS and the web — so the owner can watch every counter from anywhere. See everything in MC-POS Cloud.

iPad POS for restaurants and cafés

An iPad on the counter and an iPad mini or phone in the waiter's hand is a popular setup. MC-POS gives you floors and tables, dine-in and take-away orders, KOT to a Wi-Fi kitchen printer, service charge and tips, and a QR menu your customer scans at the table (Restaurant plan). See the restaurant POS system page.

Scan with the camera

No scanner needed. Turn on camera scanning and the iPad camera reads product barcodes while you bill — handy for small counters, stock checks and goods receipt.

Billing when the Wi-Fi drops

The iPad keeps a full copy of your products, prices, customers and today's bills, so you can bill, print to a Bluetooth printer and take returns with no internet. Everything syncs when the connection is back — to the cloud and to your other iPads, phones and computers.

iPad POS software — frequently asked questions

What is the best POS app for iPad?

MC-POS Cloud is a strong choice if you want more than a till: billing, invoices, restaurant tables and KOT, stock, purchases, accounting, e-invoicing and AI in one app, offline-first, with the same business on Android, Windows and Mac. It is free to start.

Which iPads can run MC-POS?

Any iPad on iPadOS 16 or newer: iPad 5th generation and newer, iPad mini 5 and newer, iPad Air 3 and newer, and every iPad Pro.

Which receipt printer works with an iPad?

A Bluetooth LE thermal printer, or a Wi-Fi / LAN thermal printer on the same network. Classic Bluetooth printers that only pair with a PIN do not work on iPad, because Apple does not allow it.

Yes. Billing, printing and returns work with no internet, and everything syncs when the iPad is online again.

Can I use an iPad for a restaurant with a kitchen printer?

Yes. Put a Wi-Fi or LAN thermal printer in the kitchen and choose it for KOT in MC-POS. The customer bill can print on a second printer at the counter.

Is the iPad POS app free?

MC-POS Cloud is free to start. Paid plans begin at 36 US dollars a year for 2 users and add accounting, e-invoicing, HR, the online store and restaurant features.
