Batches and expiry

For anything with an expiry date or a batch number: food, medicine, cosmetics. MCPOS sells the earliest expiry first.

Steps

  1. Turn it on for the product

Mark the product as batch-tracked on its record.

  2. Batches arrive with goods

You do not create batches by hand. Receive a goods receipt and enter the batch number, expiry and cost on the line; the batch is created for you.

  3. Review them

Warehouse → Batches & Expiry lists what you hold, with quantities and expiry dates.

  4. Selling

The batch closest to expiry is used first, so old stock leaves before new. This is automatic.

  5. Watch expiry

Filter for what is expiring soon and act on it while it can still be sold.

Good to know

  • Each batch carries its own cost, so your stock value follows what you actually paid rather than an average.
