Ringing up a sale

The POS screen is built for speed: products on the left, the cart on the right, and no step you can skip by accident.

Steps

  1. Open it

    Sales → POS.

  2. Find the product

Three ways: tap it on the grid, filter by category, or type a name or SKU in the search box. Fastest of all is a barcode scanner — scanning adds the item straight to the cart.

  3. Change the quantity

Tap the quantity on a cart line and type the number. For weighed goods, enter the weight.

  4. Choose the customer

The cart opens on Walk-in Customer. Change it if you need the sale on someone's account, or to give them their loyalty points.

  5. Apply a discount

Either on a single line or on the whole sale. Tax is recalculated on the discounted amount, so the figures stay correct.

  6. Check the totals

Subtotal, discount, tax and any service charge are broken out above the total. Read them before taking money.

  7. Take payment

Press the payment button and continue on the payment screen.

Good to know

  • The Sale / Quotation / Order buttons at the top of the cart decide what the document becomes. A quotation takes no money and moves no stock.
  • A held sale is kept, not lost, if a customer walks away to fetch their card.
  • The same screen can start from an existing quotation or order, so you never retype a cart.
