Set up the menu

Your menu is your product list. In a restaurant, three fields matter most: the category, the food type and the sort order.

Steps

  1. Categories are menu sections

Starters, Main Course, Drinks, Desserts. The waiter app and the till's order screen show them as tabs, so a waiter jumps straight to Drinks.

  2. Every dish gets a food type

It decides which kitchen prints the dish. See "Food types".

  3. Put the best sellers first

Sort order: dishes numbered 1, 2, 3… come first, in that order, and the rest follow by name. The web and the app use the same order.

  4. Portions and sizes

Quarter, half and full, or small and large, are variants with their own price. The waiter picks one when adding the dish.

  5. Prices and tax

Set each dish's tax and whether its price includes it. The bill shows the tax either way.
