Set up the waiter app

Waiters take orders at the table on a phone or tablet. The device connects to your main till at the counter — the master — over the restaurant's Wi-Fi, and the master does the rest: tickets, tables and bills.

Steps

  1. Turn on the server on the master till

    On the counter till: My Business → Settings → Waiter Order Server. It shows the address it is running at.

  2. Show the pairing code

    Pair a waiter device → Show QR / Code. The window shows a QR code, the server address and a 4-digit pairing code.

  3. Open the waiter app

    Install the MC Waiter app on the waiter's phone, or press the Waiter tile on the home screen of any MC-POS app to turn that device into a waiter device.

  4. Connect

    Search POS finds the master on the same Wi-Fi. Or scan the QR, or type the server address and the pairing code, and press Connect. A device pairs once and stays paired.

  5. Sign in

    Each waiter signs in with their own staff account — email and password, or their sign-in QR. That name goes on every ticket and bill they take.

Good to know

  • No Wi-Fi router? A phone hotspot works: put the master till and the waiter phones on it.
  • Work through Internet is the other way: sign the device in to the business itself, then choose Waiter or Kitchen. Orders then travel by cloud sync instead of the local network.
  • Reset code & unpair all devices disconnects every waiter device at once — for a lost phone. Too many wrong pairing codes lock pairing for ten minutes.
